Camp Landon
Mission:
The camp aims to provide “special abilities” athletes the opportunity
to develop skills and enjoy the game.
The Date for the 2026 Camp is set for Sept. 12
Camp Landon in Council Bluffs, IA, is an annual, free football and cheerleading camp designed for participants of all ages with special abilities. Founded in 2021 by coach Donnie Woods and named after Landon Marshall, the event is held at Iowa Western Community College, offering skill development, a tailgate, and, often, a game-day experience.
Landon is an assistant football coach born with down syndrome at Iowa Western Community College. Donnie Woods was playing basketball with Landon Marshall & Dallas Hinkhouse. The next day Coach Woods texted Dallas saying he had a dream about a special needs football camp and that he would like to start one. Landon & his family were all in.
There are certain people in our lifetime that greatly impact the way we see the world. After hanging around Landon, you always leave loving harder, hugging tighter, and smiling bigger.”
Coach Donnie Woods
